When to merge PDFs

Common use cases: combining a cover letter with a resume, merging multiple chapters into a complete document, consolidating monthly bank statements into an annual record, or assembling presentation handouts with speaker notes.

File order matters

The merged PDF follows the order in which you arrange the files. Drag files into the correct sequence before merging. Think about the logical flow — cover page first, appendices last.

What gets preserved in merging

Text, images, formatting, and page layout are fully preserved. Bookmarks and hyperlinks within each PDF are maintained. Digital signatures may be invalidated in the merged document since the content has changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit to how many files I can merge?

No hard limit. However very large files may exhaust browser memory. For many large files, consider using the command-line tool PDFtk.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged without first removing the password. Use the PDF Password Remover tool first.

Will page numbers be updated in the merged document?

Page numbers embedded as text in original PDFs are not automatically renumbered — they are preserved as-is.
