When pages end up in the wrong orientation
Scanned documents frequently come out rotated — scanners capture pages based on how they were physically placed. PDFs created from photos or mobile scans often mix portrait and landscape pages. Rotation is the quick fix for all of these.
90 vs 180 vs 270 degrees
90 degrees clockwise: a page lying on its right side rotates to upright. 180 degrees: a page that is upside-down flips to the correct orientation. 270 degrees clockwise (= 90 degrees counterclockwise): a page lying on its left side rotates to upright.
Rotating selected pages vs all pages
Documents with mixed orientations need selective rotation. A report with landscape financial tables among portrait text pages should only rotate the landscape pages — applying global rotation would break the portrait pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the rotation permanent in the downloaded PDF?
Yes. The downloaded PDF has the rotation baked in. The original file is never modified.
Can I rotate only specific pages?
Yes. Specify page numbers in the page selector to rotate only those pages while leaving others unchanged.
Does rotation affect PDF quality?
No. PDF rotation changes the viewing orientation in the document metadata — it does not re-encode any content.
